I spend countless hours repeatedly explaining to my dad that,”yes you are home.” On September 25, 2016 my dad had a stroke that affected the oppcutical side of his brain! What does that mean? I quickly learned all about it and and basically although my dad can pretty much independently care for himself! He spiralled straight into moderate vascular dementa!
This “dementia” has taken my dad as a prisoner! The way I see it is, dementia equals prison!
I watch him slowly sail away with every passing day, going further and further away!

I try to give him the tools to help him cope, but within a few minutes he forgets! He forgets what I said, can’t comprehend the simple tasks, looks lost and angry.
So here is what I found the description to vascular dementia : Vascular dementia is the second most common form of dementia and is caused by reduced blood flow to the brain—usually from a stroke or series of strokes. While the strokes may be unnoticeably small, the damage can add up over time, leading to memory loss, confusion, and other signs of dementia.
Basically, he’s screwed! Everything that he was, he worked for, and he became got wiped off the board.
